Whistler Shooting Adventures
A hilltop outdoor range with a range officer beside you, no licence or experience needed
Whistler Shooting Adventures runs an outdoor range on a hilltop about twenty minutes north of the Village, and it is set up for people who have never held a firearm. Every session is supervised one to one by a range officer, the safety briefing comes first, and the packages are built around the mix of firearms rather than the number of rounds, from a low-recoil beginner set to precision rifles at 110 metres.
No licence is required in Canada for a supervised range session, so visitors from anywhere can take part. The minimum age is ten, provided the child is big enough to hold the firearm safely, and the Small Shooter package exists for exactly that.
From first shot to sharpshooter
Sessions begin with the rules of the range, how each firearm works and how to stand, hold and breathe. Then the range officer loads, hands over and stays at your shoulder for every shot. Targets are set at short range for pistols and out to 110 metres for the precision rifles.
Packages step up from there. Easy Shooter and Small Shooter use low-recoil pistols, a .22 rifle and a carbine; Bullets and Buckshot adds a shotgun; the WSA Package, the most popular, mixes handgun, carbine, rifle and shotgun; Tactical Five, Top Gun, Big Boomer and Sniper Five go bigger, longer or more precise. Eye and ear protection, firearms and ammunition are all provided.
There is no shuttle to the range. Rent a car for the day, or take a taxi or Whistle ride share; Google Maps recognises the business name.
