Helicopter Tours
Fourteen minutes over the Village or twenty-five over the glaciers of Garibaldi, with the option to land
Whistler from a helicopter is a different resort. The two mountains you ski shrink to a corner of a range that runs unbroken to the coast, the glaciers behind Blackcomb turn out to be the small ones, and Black Tusk, the volcanic plug you can see from the highway, goes past at eye level.
Blackcomb Helicopters flies from the Whistler Municipal Heliport, a few minutes north of the Village, with a complimentary shuttle from selected hotels. Tours run from a quick fourteen-minute flight over the resort to twenty-five minutes into Garibaldi Provincial Park, with an alpine landing available on the longer option.
Three ways to see the range
The Whistler Explorer is fourteen minutes in the air and covers the resort itself: both mountains, the Village, the lakes and the valley from above. It is the flight to take if time is short or it is a first helicopter ride for someone in the group.
The Coast Ranger extends to twenty-five minutes and heads south into Garibaldi Provincial Park, over the crevasses of the Cheakamus Glacier, past Black Tusk and along the turquoise of Garibaldi Lake. The Coast Mountain Adventure adds a twenty-minute landing on an alpine ridge or glacier, which is the option to choose for photographs and for standing somewhere very few people ever stand.
Flights are weather dependent and the pilot has the final say on the day. Private flights carry up to five passengers. Blackcomb Helicopters also runs heli-picnics, heli-golf and winery flights, which are listed in the booking calendar alongside the tours.
