Whistler Heli-Skiing

Three to six runs a day across 432,000 acres of Coast Mountain glaciers and bowls

Winter · Departs Whistler Village

What better way to enjoy the beautiful landscapes of Whistler than in a helicopter? Take a flight to the top of the mountain and enjoy untouched powder from top to bottom. With 173 glaciers, 475 runs and an area that is 50 times bigger than Whistler Blackcomb, you will embark on a trip that you will one day tell your grandkids about.

Whistler Heli-Skiing has been flying skiers and riders into the Coast Mountains since 1981, from a check-in right in the Village. Its three packages step up from a first heli-day to a full day of big vertical, with guides who sort groups by ability and pick the terrain to suit the snow.

Powder, a picnic and a lot of vertical

The day starts in the Village with a safety briefing, avalanche transceiver practice and gear checks before the first flight. From there the guide reads the conditions and the group: open glaciers and alpine bowls on clear days, tree runs when the light goes flat.

Lunch is a heli-picnic out on the mountain. On most days extra runs can be added once the package runs are done, depending on the weather and how the group is skiing.

Heli-skiing is backcountry skiing. You should be comfortable on black runs at Whistler Blackcomb and have some off-piste experience, and be fit enough for a full day in deep snow. If this is your first time, the Classic Experience is the place to start.
