Whistler Tube Park
Seven lanes, a conveyor lift back to the top and nothing to learn: the easiest hour of a Whistler winter
The Tube Park is the winter activity that needs no lesson, no rental and no ability. You sit in an inflated tube, someone gives you a push and you slide down one of seven lanes, some gentle and some fast, over more than a thousand feet of groomed snow, then a conveyor lift carries you back up for the next one.
It sits at Base 2 on Blackcomb, just above the mid-station of the Excalibur Gondola, and the ride up from the Village is free: no lift ticket needed. Lights and a sound system keep it open into the evening, which makes it the standard answer to "what do we do after the lifts close" for families with children from about three feet tall.
Lanes, lights and how to get there
The seven lanes run from a short mini-lane for the smallest children to long, fast lanes for teenagers and adults, and the conveyor lift means nobody walks back up carrying a tube. Riders between 36 and 41 inches tall use the mini lane; from 42 inches every lane is open. Tickets are sold in one-hour and two-hour blocks and the park is capacity limited, so book a few days ahead in holiday weeks.
Hours in a typical season are 10am to 6pm on weekends and holidays and 11am to 6pm on weekdays, with lights on after dark. Check the Whistler Blackcomb site for the current season's dates and hours before you go, as they change with conditions.
To get there, ride the lower section of the Excalibur Gondola from the Village to its mid-station, which is free and runs the same hours as the park, and walk the short path across. If you are driving or have a stroller or wheelchair, Lot 8 on Blackcomb Way is next to the park with free parking.
