Winter Ziplining
The same four Superfly lines, a snow-covered valley and a very different view
Ziplining is not only a summer sport in Whistler. The Adventure Group runs Superfly through the winter on the same four lines, and the experience changes completely: white forest instead of green, cold air that makes the speed feel faster and, on a clear day, snow on every peak in sight.
It is one of the easiest winter activities to fit around skiing. The tour takes two and a half hours door to door from the free shuttle at the Gateway Bus Loop, runs in rain, sun or snow, and is open to anyone from six years old within the weight range.
Side by side above the snow
The tour follows the summer format: shuttle to Basecamp, harnessing, a 4x4 ride up Cougar Mountain and then four lines linked by short trails and boardwalks, each one longer than the last. Two riders leave every platform together on the parallel cables, which is the part children remember.
The longest line, Z2, runs more than 1.3 kilometres at up to 200 metres above the valley, and it is the one to save your camera for. In winter the trails between platforms are packed snow, so proper boots matter more than in summer.
Guides handle everything technical. All you do is sit back, hold on and try to look at the view rather than the drop.
