Superfly Ziplines
Four lines, two riders side by side and more than a kilometre of cable above the Cougar Mountain valley
Superfly is the big one. Where most ziplines run a few hundred metres between platforms, the longest line here is over 1.3 kilometres, strung 200 metres above the valley floor, and the cables run in pairs so two of you ride it together. The Adventure Group calls it the longest year-round zipline in North America and the speeds, which reach 90 km/h and on one line have topped 100, back the claim up.
The whole experience takes about two and a half hours and starts at TAG Basecamp on Cougar Mountain, a ten-minute drive north of the Village with a free shuttle from the Gateway Bus Loop. Your ticket includes the rest of Basecamp for the day: axe throwing, wiffle golf, slacklines, the nature trail and lockers.
Four lines and a 4x4 to the top
After check-in and harnessing at Basecamp, a 4x4 carries the group up the mountain to the first platform. The lines get longer as the tour goes on, with the guides talking through the technique before each one, and the side-by-side cables mean friends, couples and parents with children leave the platform at the same moment and land together.
The signature line, Z2, is the 1.3 km one, and it is long enough that after the initial rush there is time to look around: the valley, the peaks of the Coast Mountains and, if you are lucky, a bear in the clear-cut below. Godzilla is the fast one. Between lines, short trails and boardwalks link the platforms.
Children aged 6 to 12 ride with a paying adult, 13 to 15 need a chaperone in the group, and from 16 you can ride alone. Two of the four lines are wheelchair accessible; contact TAG ahead of time to arrange it.
