ATV Tours

Automatic quads, a guide out front and the Coast Mountains opening up around every switchback

Summer · Blackcomb Mountain and the Callaghan Valley

An ATV tour is the quickest way to get properly off the pavement in Whistler. Within twenty minutes of leaving the Village you are on a forest service road with the engine ticking, a guide ahead of you and nothing but trees, creeks and switchbacks until the trail breaks out into the subalpine.

Canadian Wilderness Adventures runs tours on two sides of the valley. Blackcomb Mountain gives you the views, climbing to around 6,000 feet with the Whistler valley laid out below. The Callaghan Valley gives you the trail riding, from old-growth forest to the historic NorthAir gold mine and, on the longest tour, what the operator calls the longest single-track ATV trail in Whistler.

Trails, training and the view from the top

Every tour starts with a shuttle to the trailhead and a proper briefing. The quads are fully automatic, so there is no clutch to think about, and the first section is ridden slowly while everyone finds the throttle. From there the guide sets a pace that suits the group, stopping at viewpoints and for photos along the way.

The Mountain Explorer on Blackcomb is the tour to pick if it is your first time on an ATV or you are travelling with children as passengers. The Callaghan tours suit confident beginners and up: more trail, more creek crossings and more time in the forest. The Salmon Bake option pairs a ride with a West Coast salmon dinner at the end of the day.

Full-face DOT-approved helmets are provided and mandatory. Solo riders and driver-plus-passenger pairs are both catered for, and each tour has its own height and weight limits for passengers, which the booking calendar below sets out.
