Activity Companies

Who actually runs what in this valley

The operators

Whistler has a small number of companies running most of what visitors do here, and knowing who they are makes the planning easier. The same operator takes you snowmobiling in January and quad biking in July. The company behind the ziplines also runs the rafting and the night walk. Two separate helicopter businesses do two quite different things.

This page lists them, what each one actually runs, and where each activity is covered on our site. Everything you book through us is delivered by the operator named here, so you always know who is meeting you at the trailhead.

The main operators

Twelve companies

These are the businesses behind most of the activities in our summer and winter lists. Each runs its own guides, its own equipment and its own basecamp, and each one below links through to the activities they operate.

Blackcomb Helicopters
Whistler Municipal Heliport

Blackcomb Helicopters

Whistler's commercial helicopter operator, flying sightseeing tours from fourteen minutes over the resort to twenty-five minutes into Garibaldi Provincial Park, with glacier landings on the longer options. Also flies heli-biking and private alpine picnics.

Whistler Eco Tours
Wayside Park, Alta Lake

Whistler Eco Tours

The lake operator. Paddleboards, canoes and kayaks by the hour, half day and full day from the south-west shore of Alta Lake, plus Paddle Canada certified lessons and guided half-day hikes in groups of no more than eight.

Ziptrek Ecotours
Whistler Village

Ziptrek Ecotours

Whistler's first zipline company and still the most convenient, starting in the Village and running through the old-growth forest of the Fitzsimmons Valley. Four zipline tours plus a bridges-only TreeTrek, with guides who talk about the forest as much as the ride.

Mountain Skills Academy and Adventures
Certified mountain guides

Mountain Skills Academy and Adventures

The guiding company Whistler locals use for the trips that need real mountain knowledge: the via ferrata on Whistler Mountain, day hikes to Garibaldi and Cheakamus lakes, helicopter access to ice caves, avalanche courses and multi-day ski traverses.

Whistler Heli-Skiing
Departs the Village

Whistler Heli-Skiing

The long-established Whistler operator, running three, four and six run days on glaciers and alpine bowls in the Coast Mountains, with pickup in the Village. Built around guaranteed vertical and a consistent daily programme.

Phantom Heli-Skiing
Black Tusk base, near Squamish

Phantom Heli-Skiing

Owned and run by local mountain guides, built around small groups of four guests to a guide. Tenure covers 247,000 acres between Whistler and Squamish, with private and semi-private helicopters and a heli-assisted ski touring option.

Whistler Bungee
Cheakamus River canyon

Whistler Bungee

A purpose-built bridge 160 feet above the Cheakamus, with basalt columns on either side and Black Tusk on the skyline. Jumps run every day of the year in every kind of weather, solo or tandem, and spectators are welcome on the bridge.

Whistler Shooting Adventures
Twenty minutes north

Whistler Shooting Adventures

An outdoor range on a hilltop north of the Village, set up for people who have never held a firearm. Every session is supervised one to one by a range officer and no licence is required for a supervised range session in Canada.

Forged Axe Throwing
Function Junction

Forged Axe Throwing

Whistler's original axe throwing venue, with a coach on every lane who teaches the throw in the first ten minutes and runs games for the rest of the hour. Drop-in sessions daily, plus parties and buyouts from twenty people to the whole venue.

Whistler Tasting Tours
Whistler Village, on foot

Whistler Tasting Tours

Four restaurants in one evening, a course at each, with a local host who knows the chefs and a walk between stops that doubles as a tour of the Village. Two tours run year round and groups are capped at around ten.

Also in the valley

Six more

Smaller operations, the resort itself and the venues that fill a rest day. Some are single-activity businesses, others are the organisations behind facilities you will recognise from the Olympics.

Whistler Valley Tours and Charters
Sightseeing and transfers

Whistler Valley Tours and Charters

Guided sightseeing by road around the valley and up the Sea to Sky, and the operator behind the Montis Distilling tour, which includes pickup, the production floor, tastings and charcuterie.

Whistler Blackcomb
The two mountains

Whistler Blackcomb

The resort itself: lifts, the bike park, snow school, the tube park and the Peak 2 Peak Gondola. Passes, lessons and rentals all run through the resort, and the pages below cover how each one works.

Whistler Racket Club
Indoor and outdoor courts

Whistler Racket Club

The valley's only heated indoor courts, six for tennis and fourteen for pickleball across indoor and outdoor, with coaching, clinics, camps and drop-in play through the year. Rackets can be arranged if you have not travelled with one.

Escape! Whistler
Whistler Village

Escape! Whistler

Themed escape rooms in the Village, running at difficulty levels that work for families as well as groups who do this every holiday. An hour indoors, walkable from most Village accommodation.

Babysitting Whistler
In-room childcare

Babysitting Whistler

Vetted in-room sitters for guests who want an evening out, booked ahead rather than on the day. Covered on our family page alongside the activities, restaurants and services that work with children.

Whistler Sport Legacies
Whistler Sliding Centre

Whistler Sport Legacies

The non-profit that runs the 2010 Olympic venues, including the Whistler Sliding Centre. Public bobsleigh and skeleton on the Olympic track in winter, and the same track on wheels through the summer.

whistlersportlegacies.com

Booking through Whistler Wired costs you the same as booking direct. The difference is that you have one point of contact for the whole trip rather than six, and somebody local who will tell you when an activity is not the right call for your group, your dates or the forecast.

To see what each company runs season by season, start with summer activities or winter activities. For anything that is not on either list, email connect@whistlerwired.com and we will point you at the right operator.
